PM Modi Holds Bilateral Talks With 3 ASEAN Leaders

On the eve of the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit to celebrate 25 years of India-ASEAN partnership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had separate bilateral meetings with leaders of three ASEAN nations – Myanmar, Vietnam and Philippines in New Delhi. The PM first met his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc and held talks with on issues of mutual interest. Next, he met the Philipino President Rodrigo Duterte and covered a wide range of subjects. Myanmar’s State Councillor Aung San Suu Kyi also met the PM later in the evening.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds talks with leaders of Thailand, Singapore and Brunei; discusses issues of regional and international interests; more bilateral meetings scheduled today with visiting dignitaries.

The Prime Minister also held bilateral meeting with Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong.

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with Sultan of Brunei and Indonesian President Joko Widodo later in the day.

On the eve of the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit to celebrate 25 years of India-ASEAN partnership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had separate bilateral meetings with leaders of three ASEAN nations – Myanmar, Vietnam and Philippines in New Delhi.

The PM first met his Vietnamese counterpart and held talks with on issues of mutual interest. The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the growth of bilateral relations between the two countries within the framework of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including in the fields of maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, defence, oil and gas, trade and investment.

Next, he met the Philipino President and covered a wide range of subjects. The two leaders reviewed the progress in bilateral relations and in global and regional situation since their meeting in Manila in November 2017.

Myanmar’s State Councillor also met the PM later in the evening and held talks and discussions were held on various issues of mutual interest and ways of further strengthening bilateral relations, including follow up on key decisions taken during the visit of the Prime Minister Modi to Myanmar in Septmber 2017.
