Rotavac is First India-designed vaccine to pass WHO test

Rotavac became first Indigenously developed vaccine from India to be pre-qualified by World Health Organisation (WHO). It means that vaccine can be so can be sold internationally to several countries in South America and Africa. So far, several vaccines from India have been pre-qualified by WHO. Rotavac conceived and developed by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech Limited. It protects against childhood diarrhea caused by the rotavirus. It has eloped under public-private partnership (PPP) model that involved Ministry of Science and Technology, institutions of the US Government.

Union Government announces PMs Shram Awards for 2016 to 50 workers

The Ministry of Labour & Employment announced Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2016 to be awarded to 50 workers including 3 women employees. Shram Bhushan: 12 workers from SAIL, BHEL and TATA Steel Ltd. were selected. Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana Award: 18 workers from Naval Dockyard, Ordinance Factory, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam, TATA Steel, Hindalco Industries, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd., Brahmos Aerospace were selected. Shram Shree/Shram Devi Awards. They were instituted in 1985 and are announced every year by Ministry of Labour and Employment.

WEF launches Global Centre for Cybersecurity

The World Economic Forum (WEF) launched new Global Centre for Cybersecurity in a bid to safeguard the world from hackers and growing data breaches, especially from nation-states. The center will be headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and will become operational from March 2018. The Global Centre for Cybersecurity will function as an autonomous organization under WEF. It will help to build a safe and secure global cyberspace. The Mandate of Global Centre for Cybersecurity Consolidate existing cybersecurity initiatives of WEF. The Establishment of the independent library of cyber best practice.

India and ASEAN nations agree to enhance maritime cooperation

India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) nations have agreed to set up a mechanism aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation. At the India-ASEAN summit, PM Narendra Modi the maritime sector was one of the key areas for growth and development of the Indo-Pacific region. He further described India-ASEAN ties as “free from contests and claims”.

Small Finance Banks and Payment Banks to offer Atal Pension Yojana

Payments Banks and Small Finance Banks are a New Model of banks conceptualized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). 11 Payment Banks and 10 Small Finance Banks have received a license from Reserve Bank of India to start banking operations in India. Small Finance Banks and Payment Banks are new age banks and given the strength of the bank, expertise and it reaches, Small Finance Bank and Payment Bank can play a pivotal role in the outreach of 83 lacs subscribers under Atal Pension Yojana (APY). APY is a Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme being implemented through all Banks across the country as per the mandate received from the Ministry of Finance and monitored periodically at PMO. PM Narendra Modi had launched the Social Security Scheme on May 9th, 2015 and dedicated the First Ever Guaranteed Pension Product to the people of the country. India beat Japan 4-2 in Four Nations Invitational Tournament

India beat Japan 4-2 in the second leg of the Four Nations Invitational Tournament in New Zealand on Saturday. India, coming on the back of a 5-4 win over Belgium secured a place in the final of the second leg of the tournament. India had thrashed Japan 6-0 in their pool match in the first leg of the tournament.

India and Vietnam Release First-Ever Commemorative Stamps

India and Vietnam released first ever set of commemorative postage stamps to mark the long-term friendly bilateral relationships between the two countries. The stamp was released by AN Nanda, Secretary, Department of Posts. The two set of stamps released carry picture of Sanchi Stupa and Thien Mu Pagoda.
